The official language of the Congress is English.
CLIMATE
The weather in Washington, DC in May is mild to moderate with the possibility of rain. A
light jacket for the evening is suggested as temperatures may cool down. Clothing is
informal for all occasions.
VISA
Many participants may require a visa to enter the USA. We therefore suggest that you
contact the American Embassy/Consulate in your country or ask your travel agent for
assistance.
INSURANCE
The Congress Secretariat and Organizers cannot accept liability for personal accidents or
loss of or damage to private property of participants, students and accompanying persons,
either during or indirectly arising from the 1st International Congress on Heart Disease -
New Trends in Research, Diagnosis and Treatment. Participants should make their own
arrangements with respect to health and travel insurance.
REGISTRATION
DESK
The Registration Desk will operate at the Omni
Shoreham Hotel as follows:
Sunday, May 16, 1999 from 4:00pm
Monday, May 17, 1999 from 8:00 am and will remain open during all Congress functions.
Registration Fees
Participant: US$ 620.-
Nurse, Technician, Trainee *: US$ 390.-
Student **: US$ 270.-

Fees for PARTICIPANTS include: participation in all scientific sessions, Congress kit, program, abstract book, printed material of the Congress and invitation to Get-Together Reception.
PROJECTION EQUIPMENT
A projection area will be available every day, 30
minutes prior to the sessions, at the Omni Shoreham Hotel to enable participants to check
their slides prior to presentation. Please remember to collect the slides from the
projectionist immediately after the session.
POSTER PRESENTATIONS
Please check the program for the exact date, time
and board number for poster presentations. Presenters in the morning session must put up
their posters by 8:30am of the relevant morning and remove them at the end of the morning
sessions at 12:30pm. Presenters in the afternoon session must put up their posters by
1:00pm and remove them by the end of the session day.
PLEASE NOTE: The Organizing Committee will not be responsible for posters which have not
been collected.
ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATES
An Attendance Certificate will be provided upon
request for participants who need proof of attendance for income tax or other purposes.
FAREWELL DINNER (Optional)
Tickets for the Farewell Dinner may be purchased at
the Registration Desk for US$70.- per person. Please note the number of seats are limited
and tickets will be sold on a first come first served basis.
